How long is physical therapy for rotator cuff surgery?

May19th 2020

Physical therapy after rotator cuff repair may last 3-6 months after surgery. It often begins at two times per week and then decreases to 2-4 times per month toward the end of the treatment time. Even when there is no pain and good range of motion, patients who have had rotator cuff repair need careful progression of resistance exercises and activity due to potential to re-tear for up to six months postoperatively.
